What happens now to the Baltic Sea environment?
The media is currently focusing on the situation of Baltic herring and the risk of collapse of Baltic herring stocks that many scientists and organizations have warned about. A collapse of the stock could have a major negative impact on the possibilities of reversing the entire development of the Baltic Sea environment, as Baltic herring is a central part of the ecosystem.
Our common role in this is to bring about the necessary decisions to stop industrial trawling.
SMHI’s algae monitoring will resume on June 1.
You can follow it and if you have your own observations, you can report them. If the good summer weather continues, the risk of extensive algal blooms increases. Please pay attention and report back.
